William L. “Bill” Smith, 90, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday July 2, 2019 at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home.

Born January 17, 1929 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Beulah G. (Hancock) Smith. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his granddaughter Victoria (Tori) Fisher.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mildred (Espigh) Smith, whom he married on December 29, 1951, children, Sherry Green, and husband Jack, of Loudon, TN, Michael Smith of Lewistown, Deborah Fisher and husband Doug, all of Lewistown, Grandchildren, Coby Huff and wife Tifaney, of Mechanicsburg, Paul Green and wife Helen, of Ocoee, FL, Denise Green-Fry, of Chattanooga, TN, and Jenny Green-Close and husband William of Highland, CA, and great-grandchildren; Jordan and Parker Green, Alexandria Culp, Taylor and Gavin Close, Landen Huff.
Earlier in life, Bill served in the United States Navy. He was employed at Standard Steel for 23 years as a crane operator, and later owned and operated The West End Store in Lewistown for 17 years with his wife Mildred.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed taking walks around his local community, was an avid fisherman and flower gardener, played the harmonica and he was well known for his special-recipe party mix. Bill’s fun nature and willingness to always to tell a good joke will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service in loving memory of Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 5, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 428 S Main Street, Lewistown, with Pastor Chris Lutz to officiate. There will be a visitation held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the care of The Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
