Jane L. Wagner, 70, of Mount Union, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday August 4, 2019 at her home.

Jane is survived by her sister, Anne Becker, and companion Richard Dillman of Lewistown, a dear cousin, David Fry, nephews, David Becker, Matthew Becker and wife Lori, and Adam Becker and wife Kathleen, and great nieces and nephews, Megan, Alaia, Evan, Kayli, and Macy Jane Becker, and Tristan Hileman.
Jane was employed at Mt. Union High School and retired in 2004 after 34 years of service. Serving as head of the English Department, she mentored many students and teachers throughout her tenure. Jane was loved by all in her school, and was voted teacher of the year in 2004. She was very involved and passionate about the dramatic productions she directed during her time at the school. After retirement, she was a member of the Mt. Union School Board from 2005-2017, serving as vice president for 4 years and president for 6. She also became an active member of the Mt. Union Friends of the Library after her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed antiquing, and traveling to the beach, especially Ocean City, MD. Most of all, Jane adored her family, and took great joy in giving gifts to them. She will be dearly missed.

I met Jane when I moved up here 11 years ago. We both had a love of books and also a common bond as teachers. Her dedication and involvement in the organization and operation of Mount Union Community Library in 2011 as a volunteer library continued till her passing. Jane always had a smile for you no matter how bad her day was going. I will miss our chats about the library and the things we both enjoyed. Jane will always be remembered as a teacher, mentor and friend. Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

I was blessed to have Ms. Wagner as an English teacher at MUAHS, and am forever grateful to her for her encouragement to me for writing. It was she who awakened that passion in me and I am so thankful. Ms. Wagner was a force and I am grateful for the deposits that she made into my life. She will be missed. I will miss her dearly.
